    1. Melinda Richards says:

Can I mix cinnamon with pregolide for my horses cushings

    2. Melinda,
I am not sure how that would work because we do not recommend Pergolide. If you are interested in learning more about our Vitex Plus, I would be more than happy to answer your questions.

    3. Shelly Carlile says:

What do you recomend if your horse lives in a retirement pasture…we are unable to see him everyday, as this pasture is over 50 miles from our home. But I feel he could benefit from help with the Vitex regimen. Would it still be beneficial to treat him twice a week? Or does it only works properly administered everyday?
My retired jumper is very happy and energetic, but his coat is rough, and I am concerned about onset of Cushings.
      I would appreciate your thoughts.

    4. Cindy Kennedy says:

Hello, my mare has cushing’s and she continuously gets uterus infections, will vitex help with this? What type
of immune support does your product provide?

    5. Bonnie J. Vezzi says:

I have never commented on a product before, but Vitex Plus is a true miracle worker. I took in a horse this winter that literally looked like a wholly mammoth. I could not even groom him because where there was no hair was a skin condition that hurt him even when I used a soft brush. I did not want to go the drug route so I ordered the Vitex Plus. I want to inform everyone how this horse is doing. His coat has come in soft and silky and his chestnut color is a beautiful deep red. No more skin issues and his whole attitude has changed. Bright eyed, running around the paddock with his buddy. He is 21 and just the sweetest animal. Now when I groom him he just loves it. I find that one spot he really enjoys and he is in heaven. Thank you Dr. Hilary, I recommend this product to all cushings horses. I will be ordereing my next 6 months supply next month

    6. So this should be the only supplement my mare wold need for her Cushings?

    7. Barbara Donnelly says:

We have a 22 year old Morgan horse who had been diagnose with cushions. He is on the medication and herbs. We have been keeping him off pasture and changed his feed. He pretty much is allowed unlimited cut hay and one small scoop of high protein and low sugar pellet feed. My concern is that he will never be allowed on pasture again. My vet says do not let him on pasture except after the frost. Will we ever be allowed to turn him out again?

    8. Jeanie Stewart says:

Why do you not recommend Pergolide?

    9. How is Cushing’s determined? Is it by blood test? What else would make an older horse retain his winter coat? He has been wormed.

    10. Shelli Pawlu says:

My horse was diagnosed with Cushings about 3 weeks ago, she is 14. She also lost her eyesight. She has the big belly and trouble shedding. We have her in a round corral and of course she was prescribed pergolide. She has been on meds 2 weeks and has no shade. I am afraid she will overheat because she had so much hair. I would like to know more about your product please as I believe in natural healing. Thank you

    11. jane Minglana says:

I currently am treating my horse with Prascend. Can I use your Vitex with it?

    12. chris fairbanks says:

My gelding born to me has been diagnosed with Cushings and has laminitis.im not big on vets.i had to put down a mustang i had for 25 years that was on perglide and previcox.he was ok forxa while then could not get up.My Koumy has a nice haircoat but it was thicker to come off the croup this year.i am crying .please advise

    13. Can you please send me a phone number that I can call to order your product

    14. Susan Zurawik says:

It does not say what this product does for Cushings. Why would I buy it? My horse is currently on Pergolide? I need more info.

    15. As a hoof care practitioner I occasionally have clients that have questions about the care of their horse diagnosed with cushings. The Vitex Plus looks to be a formula that would benefit most. In the case of a mini horse that may weigh only 350lb what would be the recommended amount given on a daily bases and how many ounces or grams would that be? The “UP TO 12.2 hh – 1 SCOOP DAILY” seems a bit arbitrary…

      Thank You

      Hoof and Boots

    16. Hi Greg, Nancy from the The Healing Barn. We have a great product that is called Hoof and Health and it has 64 different minerals and vitamins in it. It promotes hoof growth much faster than normal growing. It is also an over all vitamin for the equine and dog. We sell a lot of this product to blacksmiths and they rave about it. Let me know what you have in mind. Looks like I only have 1/2 of your questions. Nancy

    17. Yes sorry about the delay to your question. Several things about the herb Vitex Plus.
      1. it is safe to use
      2. It is natural so it does not compromise the liver or kidneys
      3. As time goes on you never have to up the dose.
      4. It has been tested on hundred’s of horses and it works as well as the Pergolide.

I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. 🙂

    18. Hopefully you have already found our phone number but if not 419-836-8367.

    19. Hi Chris, I am hoping you got a response from us about your Cushing’s horse and I am sorry I just found this message from you today. We have had super results
with the Vitex and it is all natural. With the Cushing horses I have personaly treated, I also support them with Releaf (natural pain killer) and with Multiflex to
(support the muscles, joints and organs.) With this mixture the horses and donkeys that were here at THE HEALING BARN lived a long and happy life. The Releaf and
Multi help the laminitis and any pain they feel. Keep in touch and I promise It won’t take me 7 months to respond.

      As always,
      Owner of THE HEALING BARN

    20. Hi Miss Jane,
I would use one or the other. The Vitex has great features and I can list a few for you. We have treated many of Cushing horses and Donkeys and have had great results.
      1. It is safe to handle
2 You use the same dose and do not have to increase the dose as the years go by.
      3. It is safe for the liver and kidneys.
Take care and e-mail and let me know how your horse is doing.
      As always:
      Owner of THE HEALING BARN

    21. Hi Miss Shelli, I am very sorry I am just answering you now and I hope all is well for you. The Vitex is a great Herb and is all we use at THE HEALING BARN.
We have treated many horses and donkeys over the years with the Vitex. Here are few reasons why to use natural Herbs.
      1. It is safe to handle
2 You use the same dose and do not have to increase the dose as the years go by.
      3. It is safe for the liver and kidneys.

Take care and e-mail and let me know how your horse is doing.
      As always:
      Owner of THE HEALING BARN

    22. Hi Karen, I am hoping your question has been answered, but if not yes, you can run a metabolic panel on your horse with special attention to ACTH levels. If the ACTH levels are up
then your horse clearly has Cushings. Most Diagnosis are made by symptoms.

Thick hair growth that does not shed.
Over weight (gains wt on air)
      Thick neck
      Possible Laminitis
      No energy

If there are no other symptoms you could try our special formulated Hoof and Health. Which is 64 different minerals and vitamins, this will go to work on the
horses whole body and give him or her what might be lacking.

Hope this helps, keep in touch and I promise it won’t take me long to answer you..

      Owner of THE HEALING BARN

    23. I am rgular reader, how are you everybody? This paragraph posted at thhis web
      site is actually good.

    24. Hi Jeanie,
We use all natural alternatives whenever we can. Over 20 years of running our equine rescue, rehab and sanctuary we have tested just about everything and find
that we are most happy with the results we get from using Hilton Herbs Vitex Plus on Cushings Horses (& Dogs). It works great and we have never seen any adverse effects like you can with
other medications. Unfortunately a lot of people go with western medicine recommended by their vet until they have reached max dosage and then as a last resort they do a Google search and find us.
We have had excellent results with these type cases as well. We feel it is safer for the horses owner and the horse to not use medications with side effects that can be dangerous to the horse, the horses owner and potentially to the owners unborn child when handling or splitting the pills. We never tell a potential customer to go against their Vets recommendations. We simply share our experiences with Vitex Plus to allow them to make a informed decision regarding the treatment of their Cushings horse.
Disclaimer: We are the North American Distributor for Hilton Herbs. We agreed to became a distributor when Hilton Herbs approached us because we have such fantastic results with their products. We are a distributor because we love to use and help others use natural alternatives that work. We hear and help retail customers and our dealer network every day. To be clear we Do Not do any diagnosing or tell people to go against a Vet’s recommendation. We simple share our experience with other horse owners.
      Hope this helped.

    25. I have a 13 year old horse that has the thick neck and about a month ago foundered. She has not been diagnosed with cushings, I didn’t get her tested. If I give her this and she doesn’t have cushings will it hurt her? She is not on grain just pasture, how will I give this to her? And also do you have anything that can help foundered horses? She has shoes and walks ok and can e ridden ,just stiff and the hoof feels warm not hot. Thanks you

    26. My horse had chronic laminitis in the past, he had bout after bout after bout; He has been sound now for 2 1/2 years and I have been riding him every day. My horse is an 18 year old Tennessee Walker which for the past 2 1/2 years I thought he was IR. I had lab work pulled yesterday for T4, glucose and ACTH. Got the results a little while ago that his cortisol was way out of range so he Cushings. The first glucose my vet ran was 74, we fed him a pound of sweet feed and retested in 20 minutes and it was 85 so he is not IR; all other lab work was normal. All this time I have been researching for IR supplements and treatments. So now as I am searching Cushings I read an article fro Virginia Tech which mentioned Vitex Plus and so here I am searching your web for information. Morgan doesn’t really have any other outward signs of Cushings other than the laminitis that we dealt with 3 1//2 years ago.. He was over weight and I pulled lots of weight from him, he still weighs around 1300 but he is a big horse; put him on grass hay and Blue Bonnet X-Factor (2 pounds a day) 2 1/2 years ago after the last bout of laminitis. He does get alfalfa now (about 5 – 6 lbs a day) along with the grass hay, he goes out to pasture after morning feeding with a muzzle and I now take the muzzle off and let him graze at will for 2-3 hours a day and put him put about 8 pm, for supper and the night. He is trimmed every 5 weeks and I ride him daily now for a couple hours at a walk, jog and gate; he is doing great!! I have him on Laminex and a hoof circulation supplement from SmartPak. I am very interested in trying your product for Cushings and was wondering if Vites Plus could be fed in conjunction with Laminex and the hoof circulation supplement. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions that you can give me.

    27. Tracy Allred says:

      Dear Healing barn,

First of all, thank you for your hard work and dedication to the animal world. As a former natural horsemanship instructor I treasure your information. I wish I could come work with you folks!
I have a 20 year old that was just diagnosed with Cushings and have just begun my research. His symptoms are not the normal ones and I am still in shock. I just wanted to thank you for being so free with your knowledge.
      Thanks again,
      Tracy Allred

    28. Hi Virginia, I see you tagged the Vitex Plus…has your horse been dx with Cushings? If so get him on the Vitex and start him on Multiflex and Releaf. A horse that has laminitis can be in pain. A Cushing horse also can have under laying pain that we are not aware of. The Multiflex will support his whole system and the releaf with keep the pain away enough to get out of the circle he is in. Let me know how he does. Nancy

    29. Hi Sue, sorry this is a delay is responding to you. Most owners are treating the symptoms of Cushings and not having the testing done. The Vitex will not hurt any horse on the product, it’s all natural and if the horses system does not need it they will just get rid of it thru urinating. Horses with these conditions need to be monitored when on pasture. Too much grass will cause more founder and the kidneys and liver will not be able to handle all the richness in the grass. The Vitex gold is liquid and it can be syringed into their mouth, the dry can be fed in just a dish 1 time a day. It’s about a handful of herb. The other thing that we recommend is the Multiflex, it will detox your horses muscles and organs and give him pain releaf in his feet. Know that when using the Multiflex and your horse starts to detox his stall may smell for a few days getting rid of the toxins in his system. Keep in touch and let me know how it goes. Nancy

    30. Hi Margie, good to hear from you. All is good. What about you? Nancy

    31. Hi Barbara, I would follow your Vet’s orders. He is right. Cushing horses can not be out on unlimited pasture. Too many sugars and carbs. Let me know how you are doing now. Nancy

    32. Hi Julie, depending on what else is going on with your horse she may need the Multiflex to support the organs, muscles and tissues. Let me know how she is doing. Nancy

    33. Hi Virginia, We recommend the Vitex support for horses with Cushings. Not only is the product tested on hundreds of horses before it is pushed out to the consumer but we at The Healing Barn always have a cushings horse or donkey at the barn. When we run labs we always run the ACTH levels and then go to town on supplements, all natural. Along with the Vitex I support the system with Multiflex and Releaf pain control. The Multiflex supports the organs and the muscles and ligaments and the Vitex keeps the cushings under control. I am not sure what all the ingredients are that are in the supplements you are using. In my opinion he also should not be getting all that Alfalfa, it is to rich for his kidneys. If the supplements you are using are just for your horses feet than you should be fine feeding it along with the Vitex. I hope this helps and please keep me in the loop. Nancy

    34. Can this product be started for a mare that is in foal for the last 30 days? Can these products be used on show horse that has just been diagnosed with cushings?

    35. I have a 23 year old QH. gelding has always been a hard keeper he was diagnosed with cushings last year and been on peroglide now he is loosing interest in eating supplements and just mouths his hay loosing weight he cannot afford to loose and has lost interest in life. I’m am willing to try something different to help him be healthy and HAPPY and enjoy every day he has do you think your product might help?

    36. Hi Ken, you have the right place. We have been dealing with Cushings in horses and donkeys for over 15 years. We have had horses that vet’s say there is no hope and we have brought them back from near death. We immediately would start your guy on Vitex plus, take him off all alafala hay, get a good quality grass hay, and get him on a low protein grain and not much of it. The problem with Cushing’s it starts to attack all the organs causing shut down, which in turn affects everything. Once the Organs start to balance then the eating comes back and the depression goes away.
Think about it, as you having the 24 hour flu for weeks.
The next thing I would ask you about is do you notice any pain in his feet or pain anywhere? A lot of times the Cushing’s horse has pain and that triggers not eating and depression. Then I would recommend a natural bute we have called Releaf Gold, a dressing for his feed. To be honest of all the horses we have had at The Healing Barn I automatic put them on the Releaf just because there is pain somewhere and instead of guessing or racking up a huge Vet bill, this take care of the question.

Just an FYI the Vet here in Northwest Ohio sends all his Cushing Horses to us now for the Vitex because of the success. I hope this helps and you can either call and order or you can order on our website.
Please keep in touch and do not wait too long. You should gradually take your guy off the Peroglide while you are starting the Vitex.

Nancy / Corri Owners of The Healing Barn

    37. Hi Pat, not much is ok’d for pregnant mares. Keep our mare on a good grass hay and watch the protein intake of her grain. Keep a good eye on her. Unfortuately most products are not OK for Pregnant mares. Good luck and keep n touch.
      Owner from The Healing Barn

    38. Just have to say how impressed I am with Vitex Plus. My mare has been on it about 9 days now. Her coat went from completely dull to shiny and vibrant, and the dips above her eyes have filled back in already. She had fast onset of cushings and thyroid issues. She’s already regained her vitality too and loves noth the liquid and flake forms. I can’t thank you enough!!!

    39. Hi Miss Catherine, Thank you so much for your Testimonial. Hilton is the best Herb company around, that’s why we carry their product. I am so glad your girl is doing good.
Thank you again, Have a great day

    40. If she keeps getting infections I would recommend our Echinacea Plus, the Vitex is specifically for Cushinoid horses.

    41. karyl shoemaker says:

Is this product good for minis?

    42. Yes all horses and dogs.

    43. Jeanne E. says:

Hello, what is your recommendation how to switch over from Pergolide to Vitex, I would like to try your product. I am impressed with the testimonials.
Also when will you have Shoo Tag for cattle in and if not soon can we use the equine?

      Thank you, Jeanne

    44. Hi Jeanne, thanks for the question. If you are using the dry Vitex, this will take about 3 weeks to get into your horses system, so continue the Pergolide as normal and towards the end of the 2 week of the dry herbs start giving the Pergolide every other day. Then every third day until you get to the end of the 3 week. That 4th week just give the Pergolide 1 to 2 times a week and then be done. If you are using the liquid the process will be quicker. The liquid gets in to the horses system within 10 days, so it will be faster to wean him off. The secret is to keep something in their system Let us know how you do. Have a great summer. Nancy

    45. Hi Jeanne, The company does not carry Shoo-tag/OBug zone for cattle anymore. Sorry about that. And as far as I know Equine tag won’t help the cows. Nancy

    46. Jesse Burns says:

Hello, after reading all if your comments and remarks I have ordered Vitex Plus and Multi-Flex. I have a 22 YO Welsh pony that is very sick. I haven’t had him tested but I believe from what I’ve read that he might have cushings. I called my Vet and he said he normally does the test in the Fall, but I don’t want to wait. I don’t think my horse would make it, especially in the extreme heat/humidity we are having in AR. I’m glad I found your site and can’t wait to try your products. Thank you!

    47. Hi Jesse,
Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions now and/or after you receive you
Vitex Plus and MultiFlex. We have seen outstanding results from this combination I’m
confident you will happy with your decision.

    48. Tara Heggie says:

Looking for any information about Cushings/IR. My 16 year old gelding is overweight, dx with cushings feb 2017. Taking pergolide with no issues. Do I need to give him anything other then the vitex plus for his cushings? (and take him off the pergolide). I also have a 18 ish pony that is Cushings/IR, he does not shed out very well. He will not take the pergolide, so I am looking for alternatives for him. Neither has had a lamintis episode. Any information is good. I am only allowing grass intake in the A.M. for 1-2 hours. They get a small section of hay in the evening.
      Thanks, Tara

    49. Hi Tara, with the Cushing horse/pony I give the Vitex and the MultiFlex for support of joints and muscles. The MultiFlex also has a natural pain med in it, to help the horse/pony just feel better.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Nancy
