New Rescue at The Healing Barn August 16. 2018

This is a post to update  on the happenings at The Healing Barn.  It is mid August 2018 and we have 18 horses and 1 beautiful white donkey.

Our latest rescue is a gorgeous Red roan quarter horse who had been beat by his trainer/owner even when he was winning.  The story sucks but now Rocky is safe and no one will ever hurt him again.  He has adjusted well and the volunteers and boarders that come to the barn just love him.  He’s has a couple of girlfriends here along with some guy friends. 🙂  You ask how do I know he has a girlfriend?  At any given time you can see him and Twister (beautiful White Mare) grooming each other, neck and neck.  They mirror each other, one walks around, the other is by her/his side.  It’s fun to watch.    Twister is not a rescue but a forever boarder here at the barn.

It is very interesting that all but 5 of the horses at The Healing Barn are rescues, thankfully some on them already have forever homes with forever owners at the barn and will be there for a long time.

With the herd now we have 1 horse that is 28 and  2 are 25 years old.  You ask how old does a horse get?  Our oldest horse at this barn was 42.  Times 3 (human years)=126 years old.  How cool is that?
